The Boy from the Dragon Palace

Retold by Margaret Read MacDonald

Originally titled Hanatare Kozō-sama, this Japanese folktale retold by Margaret Read MacDonald tells of a child whose nose-blowing brings good luck and a greedy flower seller who pushes his wishes too far. I enriched the illustrations with details of traditional Japanese crafts, clothing, food, and daily life, drawing on extensive research of kimono, textiles, architecture, and interior design.
