The Festival theme piece for the MB Artists catalog celebrates the cozy magic of traditional Japanese New Year. I wanted to capture the warmth of osechi, slurping New Year’s Eve soba, temple visits, the solemn gong, and lazy moments in a kotatsu with tangerines and pounding mochi — little slices of holiday enchantment I’ve missed every year.
